Anambra: Clash Between Gunmen, Vigilante Leaves Two Dead At Ifite Near Awka Town

Tension heightened in parts of Awka the Anambra state capital on Monday evening as gun men attacked vigilante operatives at Ifite near Awka main town.

A source who claimed to have witnessed the attack said one vigilante and a commercial motorcycle rider were gunned down in the clash

According to the source, there was shooting in the area at about 6pm, while the hoodlums who came in a saloon car got stuck after they attempted to escape.

Residents scampered for safety as gunshots boomed from different directions in the area.

A concerned citizen had alerted the public and security agencies of the need for urgent attention in the area.

But the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Ikenga Tochukwu when contacted said the Command was yet to get full details of the incident.
