The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi said that his administration would end suffering and hunger in Nigeria if elected president in the forthcoming general elections.

Obi stated this on Tuesday while addressing Labour Party (LP) members and supporters during a presidential campaign mega rally held at the All Saint Cathedral Anglican Church, Onitsha, Anambra state.

“We want to end suffering in Nigeria, we want to build a new Nigeria, in Nigeria today, nobody is safe in Nigeria today, our youths don’t have jobs, in Nigeria today, families are suffering, in Nigeria today, people are begging to eat.

“All these will come to an end if we are elected into office. We will secure and unite Nigeria, we will make sure that we negotiate with all the agitators, work with those who are ready to drop arms and tell others that there is government.

“Anambra is a manufacturing state, it will come back, we will make Nigeria a producing nation, not a consuming nation. Every part of Nigeria will produce food. All the companies producing cars will export their cars,” he said.

The former Anambra governor, said that the only way this country would work is to hand it over to those who have created wealth.

He added that with the experience he had garnered as a governor, he would moved the country from being consuming nation to producing nation.

Obi said that he would not complain as a leader, but rather, provide solutions to all the challenges facing the country and build a better future for the teeming citizenry.

The labour party presidential candidate also promised to fight out of school children syndrome across the country if elected.

The Vice Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Datti Baba-Ahmed, said that he decided to work with Obi because of his belief in justice, equality and fairness.

Baba-Ahmed further asked Nigerians to hold them accountable and responsibile if they fail in their promises, insisting that the Feb. 25 election was as good as won.

“The joy and fun I’m having here has made me forget the cost of foodstuffs in the market, and forget they’re stealing our money.

“APC is being deceived by your money in their pockets, and PDP who forgets easily is being deceived by the small money in their pockets they want to spend. This election is good as won.

Earlier, the former governor of Anambra, Mr Chukwuemeka Ezeife, said that Obi will be sworn- in as the winner of the election.

“There will be no interim government in Nigeria after the general elections. Obi will be sworn-in as the overall winner of the election.

“He is the man of the people, I urged you all to come out en mass and vote for him, and elect a brand new president of Nigeria”, he said.

In his opening address, the state Chairman of Labour Party (LP), Mr Ugochukwu Umeh, said that Nigerians are proud of Obi, assuring that he would not disappoint them if elected president.

“We are very proud of Obi, he will not disappoint us if we elect him as our president. I want to thank all Nigerians for supporting him in this cause irrespective of our religious background.

“He will revive our economy for sustainable growth; we are sure that after his tenure, we will not regret appointing him as our president”, he said.

Popular socio-political activist, Aisha Yesufu, said that Nigerians should use their Permanent Voter’s Card and thumbprint to elect good leaders that will take Nigeria to the promised land.

Yesufu said that the labour party presidential candidate is the man to trust, adding that he will give Nigerians accountability, he will provide good roads, creates job opportunities for the youths.

In his contribution, the South-East Zonal Coordinator, Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, Mr Damian Okeke-Ogene, said that the fight to rescue Nigeria is not for Peter Obi alone but all Nigerians.
