•••PLEDGES TO CONDUCT FREE FAIR, PEACEFUL ELECTIONS
President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday, vowed to support a candidate with high degree of integrity in the next general elections, while promising to bequeat to the nation, a free, fair and credible elections come 2023.
The President reiterated his commitment for a rancour andviolence-free exercise.
He stated that an honest candidate will earn his support.
The President spoke before jetting out to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, to participate in African Union Extra-Ordinary Session of Assembly of Heads of State and Governments.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress, APC, aspirant for the Kano Central Senatorial seat, Senator Basheer Lado, told State House Correspondents after his meeting with the President Buhari assured him of his desire.
He added that he promised the President of massive Kano State vote, despite the recent APC crisis in the state.
He said, “As you are aware, Kano State is the largest producer of votes in Nigeria It is the decider of who becomes the next president in the presidential election.
“Just like my Governor HE Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has done in the past, I respectfully informed and reassured Mr President that the APC is still the party to beat in Kano despite recent defections.”
He said President Buhari reinterated his declaration and his committment to credibel elections that would ensure the emergence of candidates with integrity.
“After my briefing, Mr. President reiterated his committment to credible and peacful elections and also his desire to see candidates with integrity prevail at the polls across Nigeria.”
