Ahead of the 2023 general elections, a group, Anaocha Stakeholders, mostly elders from Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra state, have begun grassroots mobilisation and campaign plan for the Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi and other candidates of the party in the state.
The elders vow that they will do everything politically and spiritually possible to ensure that their son, Obi, the Senatorial candidate of Anambra Central Senatorial District, Sen. Victor Umeh, the party’s candidate for Anaocha 1 State Constituency, Hon.Nkechi Ogbuefi
and others contestants under the LP in the state emerge victorious in the next year elections.
The group explained that with Obi’s proven track records and his wide social-economic connections, it was important for a person of his calibre, to take over the mantle of leadership to address the current ugly situation confronting the country.
The group’s National Convener, Chief Ugochukwu Orji, said on Monday in Awka that with Peter Obi’s unique leadership qualities, it was important that members of the group take to streets, market squares, worship centers, village squares, LGAs Headquarters and states across the country to sensitise and educate Nigerians on why Obi, deserves to rule Nigeria.
Orji said that members of the group cut across political parties.
Sen. Umeh who was also at the meeting, said those speculating that Obi’s structure for the election ends only on social media, were even helping to project the party and it candidate for a landslide victory.
According to him, at the moment no political party in Nigeria, has the kind of structure the LP has for the election. Nigerians, especially, the youths irrespective of Ethnicity, political and religious affiliations, are all out to vote Obi as the next Nigerian president.
Umeh urged the group not to allow selfish politicians to influence them with any kind of gesture that would create division among them.
Reacting, Hon. Nkechi Ogbuefi, informed the elders that she is vying for the position to assist Obi, to rescue the country out of incompetence, poverty, insecurity, unemployment and hunger; “and to bring the most needed dividends of democracy to her constituents.”
The meeting which was held at Golden Tulip hotel Agulu, have chieftains of all political parties, including Chief Ben Obi (Igwe APGA), in attendence.
Donation of some funds were received for the pursuit of the success of the party in next year’s elections.
