Former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi on Monday emerged as the Presidential candidate of Labour Party, in the on going primaries of the party going on in Asaba, as two presidential aspirants stepped down for him.
Obi emerged the presidential flagbearer after Professor Pat Utomi and another aspirant, Joseph Faduri, announced their stepping down for Obi.
Utomi said he stepped down for a younger aspirant with the capacity to effect the needed change in the Nigerian system.
According to him, it’s a new dawn for the liberation of Nigeria, with the LP primaries.
Joseph Faduri, another presidential aspirant after his speech, also step down for the former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party of Nigeria for the 2023 elections.
He was therefore, elected unopposed at party’s National Convention, at Orchid Hotel, Asaba, Delta State.
Prof. Pat Utomi, stepped down for him, saying: “Obi must be given the opportunity to govern this country.”
Obi moved to LP after he dumped People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in a controversial manner ahead of the party’s 2023 presidential primaries.
