2023: OKUPE WITHDRAWS AS OBI’S RUNNING MATE

…PARTY NATIONAL CHAIRMAN TO AÑNOUNCE REPLACEMENT TODAY

Former Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Olusegun Obasanjo and Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President Goodluck Jonathan, Doyin Okupe, has withdrawn from the position of the Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP.

Okupe, who acted as a placeholder, running mate to Obi to beat the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, deadline on Thursday submitted his withdrawal letter to the INEC.

The former aide to President Jonathan on his verified Twitter handle @doyinokupe tweeted that he submitted his withdrawal letter this afternoon saying  the party leadership will añnounce his replacement.

“This afternoon I submitted my withdrawal letter from the position of the Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party to INEC.

“A replacement will be announced by d national chairman of d party shortly.I feel greatly blessed to have been part of the foundation of success four the LP.” He twitted

Earlier, he had expressed shock at gutter and dirty politics being played by anti-Obi campaigners who are mischievously trying to incite the North against Obi by branding alcoholic drinks in the name of the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi.

“Our detractors will not stop cheap and evil ways of trying to paint our candidate Peter Obi, bad in the eyes of the public.

“These labeled alcoholic drinks were done by mischievous people and circulating it in the North to incite people against Peter Obi. Pl disregard this pictures.” He tweeted
