Strong indications have emerged that former President Goodluck Jonathan will contest the 2023 Presidential election under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress.
A prominent former Aide of the former President said in a deleted tweet that the former President will contest under the APC.
Even though the tweet was pulled down, the strong message had been sent out that former President Goodluck Jonathan might be contesting the 2023 Presidential election.
“Jonathan set to declare for 2023 Presidency under APC,” the deleted tweet read.
The former President will run the show in the territory of those who moved against him and ousted him from power in a web of conspiracy which involved politicians across parties.
Already the erstwhile floating rumour about Jonathan’s interest to run for the Presidency which was dismissed in political circles have gained serious traction.
The former President had given the hint of the high possibility of joining the contest for the 2023 Presidency on Friday.
Jonathan said while addressing some supporters who besieged his office in Abuja, asking him to run for the Presidency in 2023, “I cannot tell if I’m contesting.”
The former President had said that he couldn’t declare his intention to run now because the process is ongoing.
“Yes you are calling me to come and declare for the next election, I cannot tell I’m declaring. The political process is ongoing just watch out. The key role you must play is that Nigeria must get somebody that will carry young people along.”
