2023: Count Us Out of Alleged Wike’s Attack On Peter Obi — Anambra PDP Delegates

The delegates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra state for the 2023 Presidential primary election on Thursday denied allegations making the rounds that the governor of Rivers state and Presidential aspirant of the party Governor Nyesom Wike insulted former Vice Presidential candidate and the party’s Presidential aspirant Mr Peter Obi during his recent tour to the state.

It was reported that the delegates were not happy with some statements credited to Wike against Obi and that the presence of self styled political godfather Chief Chris Uba was a slap on the party.

They further alleged that Wike gave each party delegates a 100 dollars which they said was also insulting to delegates of such caliber.

Spokesperson for the delegates Mr Simon Muoneke told newsmen in Awka the state capital that the allegations were not untrue and no delegate is complaining.

He said, “Let us set the records straight; Gov Nyesom Wike didn’t insult our brother Mr Peter Obi as was alleged and we all were there on that day and he campaigned to us to vote for him.

He never said that Peter Obi is going for Vice President as they claimed but some people who are not comfortable with Wike s chances of emerging are only trying to paint this picture.

“What is wrong in Chief Chris Uba accompanying him to Anambra state ? Chris Uba is a member Board of Trustees of the PDP and that cannot be wished away by anyone and we warn all those fifth columnist to stop overheating the party and the polity.”

“The 100 dollars the governor gave to us as kola money is part of our culture and tradition of our people and it has no fixed amount or statutory amount for that.”

The delegates stated that, “Anyone saying it’s too small should be mindful of the fact that vote buying is against the electoral law and since we support the fight against corruption we cannot encourage such a thing in our party.”
