The Chairman of the All Progrssives Congress(APC), in Anambra State, Chief Basil Ejidike has apologized to all the aggrieved members of the party to forget the past and return back to the fold in the interest of the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Also, the party lauded Senator (Mrs) Magdalene Okadigbo for her doggedness and efforts at making the party thick in the state and beyond.

Chief Ejidike stated this during a press conference on Saturday at the party’s Secretariat in Awka, the state capital.

He noted that the apology to many of the party’s stakeholders had become necessary because they toiled and laboured to ensure that the party grows in leaps and bounds the past years.

Ejidike urged the party to cooperate with the leadership in the state in order to pave way for all the candidates to succeed in the forthcomcing 2023 general elections in the state and the country at large.

He said the story of the APC in the state is different from other political parties with crises, adding the the party is set to commence  watertight preparedness and readiness to contest in the polls.

According to him, the gentlemen (aggrieved members) felt disappointed over certain actions of the party at the national, zonal and state levels, saying that “to err is human and forgiveness is divine.”

“I have personally and Publicity visited them and apologized to them over what may have happened in the past,”  he says

He pointed out that there is the need for them to join forces with the party as that is the only way they  can unite to win the polls.

He stressed that “a house divided against itself cannot in any withstand anything from outside.”

Ejidike said, “Before the coming of AP. the PDP was there for almost 15 but there is no way you can compare the party’s achievements with the solid achievements in the Southeast.

“The President had assured Nigerians that the second Niger Bridge would be commissioned before the commencement of the general elections in addition to the Awka-Enugu-Onitsha expressway amongst others as well as the Enugu International Airport.

“Southeast and Ndigbo should appreciate the kind gestures of Mr. President.

“I Appealed to Ndigbo to avoid tribal, personal and religious politics. We must strive to remain at the center as we cannot in anyway be away from the mainstream politics.”

“We are now ready to face issues as they come. We have set up committeess to ensure the success of the 2023 elections.

“If there is any way we offended or stepped on the toes of anybody we apologize we are sorry we should all come together and ensure that all hands are on deck.”

Recall that the APC in the state had the past one year has been enmeshed  in deep leadership crisis involving the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige and the Party’s candidate in the November 6th, 2021 Anambra governorship election, Senator Andy Uba, over who control APC affairs in the state.

The situation got worse shortly after the governorship election which was won by Professor Charles Soludo as Governor under  the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).

Ejidike said, “I am delighted to informed you Journalists, present here that APC in Anambra State under my watch is 100 percent determine, united, strong and ready to deliver APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates contesting the election in Anambra State.”

“I am happy, because the key aggrieved leaders in the state, have been responding to my apologies. I have been engaging them peacefully in their offices and residence.

“I appealed to them on behalf of my executive to forgive us in any way we have offended them. As God creators, nobody on earth is above mistake. They should forgive and forget,” he begged.
