News Investigators/ Two brothers Usman and Mohammed Adamu were on Thursday docked in a Kaduna State Magistrates’ Court for alleged N5.7million land fraud.
The Adamu brothers are charged with criminal conspiracy and fraud.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the complainant, Buba Yusuf, reported the matter at the Gabasawa Police Station on Oct. 20.
According to Leo, sometime in 2023, the defendants and one Alhaji Hassan Sani, now at large approached the complainant with an offer for three plots of land.
The prosecutor stated that defendants collected N5.7million on the pretext of selling the plots of land to him situated at Malali Kaduna, with fake offer of grant/regrant of statutory right of occupancy.
“When the complainant got to the location, the real owner stopped him and since then all efforts made by the complainant to get his money failed,” he said.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2017.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two reliable sureties each in like sum.
He said the sureties must be civil servants not below grade level 14 and must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.
Emmanuel adjourned the case until Nov. 24 for hearing.
