SENATOR DICKSON PAYS  CONDOLENCE VISIT TO GOVERNOR DIRI OVER DEATH OF HIS FATHER

The Senator representing Bayelsa West, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has paid a condolence visit to Sampou, Kolokuma/Okpokuma the country home of the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri over the death of his father, Pa Abraham Diri.

The Governor’s father, Pa Abraham Diri, a retired Headmaster, a devout Christian described as a man of exemplary humility  died on February 12, 2023 at the age of 88.

Senator Dickson led a high-powered delegation of traditional rulers and leaders from Bayelsa West Senatorial District to condole with the Diri family on the death of their father on Monday.

Dickson, a former two-term Governor of the state, said that the family should be consoled by the long exemplary service and quality life that Pa Abraham lived while on earth.

The former Governor who described the passing of Pa Diri as a celebration of life advised the Governor, the family and indeed the family to draw consolation from his late father’s quality of life and service.   

According to him, the late Pa Abraham lived for 88 years rendering  quality service to God and humanity and saw one of his children rise to the highest position of Governor in his native Bayelsa State.

The Senator also prayed to God to give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

“Upon hearing the news of the sudden passing of Pa Abraham Diri, father of the governor of Bayelsa state, His Excellency, Sen. Douye Diri, I led a delegation of Royal fathers, elders and leaders of my Senatorial District to visit and condole him, his family and the state at his country home in Sampou.

“As I said at the event, Pa Abraham Diri lived a long life in the service of God and humanity and had the honour of seeing his son serve our state as governor.

“I also said that the passing of any loved one especially a parent, age regardless, is painful, however, the passing of Pa Diri is a celebration of life having lived for over Eighty-eight (88) years.

“I call on the governor to draw strength from the visit and have the fortitude to bear the loss and I also pray God to grant the soul of the departed eternal rest.

“I thank and appreciate the delegation of elders who at a short notice, turned up in their numbers to accompany me to pay this condolence visit today.”
