The Operatives of the Anambra State Joint Enforcement Team of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra otherwise knowns as ‘Ocha Brigade’ have arrested 14 persons using military camouflage to terrorise residents of Onitsha and its environs.
Managing Director of Ocha Brigade Mr. Celestine Anere told newsmen on Friday that the suspects were arrested during raids in Onitsha the commercial centre of the state.
He said some of the suspects are drugs syndicates using army camouflage to harass innocent citizens and perpetrate all forms of criminality within Onitsha metropolis.
According to him, the suspects are forcibly extorting money from motorists and some innocent citizens in the area
He also disclosed that some of the suspects have confessed to the crime of stealing and snatching of phones and valuables from commuters and innocent residents.
Anere also said that some have admitted to selling hard drugs and gathering intelligence for their criminal counterparts.
“Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra; Ocha Brigade, has previously arrested and prosecuted some of the hoodlums on similar cases and will continue to rid the state of criminals and drug syndicates, as such is the gateway to all manner of criminal activities in the State.
