By Kamsi Anayo and Fred Harrison

Strong indications have emerged on Saturday that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Will arraign the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, next week.

Oluomo was arrested by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday at the  Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos.

The Network investigation revealed that the embattled Speaker has been granted bail on Friday night.

A source at the Commission told one of our Correspondents that Oluomo was released after the commission perfected the process for his arraignment next week.

It was gathered that the legal department of the commission has concluded arrangements to ensure his arrangement in Lagos.

The source said that the commission decided to opt for the choice of his arraignment in Lagos to avoid any trap of jurisdiction from the suspect’s lawyers.

“You know that the case falls within the jurisdiction of Lagos and that is why the commission cannot arraign him here in Abuja.

“The Commission wants to avoid falling into any ambush of jurisdiction  because his lawyers would definitely raise that in court.

“On the issue of his bail or not, I think the commission has concluded the process to file charges against him which will definite it take place early  next week.

“With that it would be logical to release him to go since he will soon have his day in court.”

The Network investigation further revealed that the Ogun State House of Assembly has filed a suit on human right on behalf of the Speaker against the EFCC.

This, it was gathered, might have played a part in his release and and the planned trial next week.

The operatives picked up Oluomo on Thursday to answer questions bordering on alleged financial misappropriation.

Reports quoted the Speaker’s media aide, Abdulgafar Adeleye, as having confirmed his release from the EFCC  M

“I am there as we speak. An unplanned praise and worship was held earlier today by his supporters and the leadership of CAN in Ifo local government,” Adeleye was quoted as having m said.
