Breaking: Gunmen abduct Two Journalists


… Attacks ESBS, NAN Crew covering Enugu’s LG Elections

Gunmen on Wednesday attacked the news crew of the Enugu State Broadcasting Service who were covering the 2022 local government elections in the state.

The media team comprised a driver, cameraman and three reporters.

Also with them was a reporter with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Two of the ESBS reporters, Chiamaka Ezeaputa and Chigozie Alex-Nwafor and driver, Ebuka Collins Ogbozor escaped.

The NAN reporter who was with them equally escaped safely.

The driver and one of the reporters, Alex-Nwafor narrowly missed being killed.

They were attacked at Obeagu on their way to Agbani.

According to them, the whereabout of two members of staff of the station, Fred Nnaji and Monday Ogbodo, was unknown.

It was learnt that the telephone lines of the reporters are either switched off or in an area outside of network coverage.

The gunmen made away with the station’s utility vehicle, camera as well as the crew’s phone, cash and other valuables.
