POLICE AREA COMMANDER, OFFICER KILLED IN KATSINA 

 The police in Katsina State  have said that over 300 terrorists on motorcycles wielding AK 47 assault rifles and General Purpose Machine Guns have killed Area Commander, Dutsinma ACP Aminu Umar and and another officer

The State Command Police Public Relations Officer Gambo Isah, a Superintendent of Police who confirmed the sad development said the  Area Commander and one other officer were killed in the gun duel with the terrorists.

He said that ACP was killed during a clearance operation of terrorists in Zakka forest, Safana Local Government Area of Katsina state.

“Today 06/07/2022 at about 1130hrs, a distress call was received that terrorists numbering over three hundred (300), on motorcycles, shooting sporadically with AK 47 rifles and General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMG), ambushed ACP Aminu Umar, Area Commander, Dutsinma and team, while on clearance operation of recalcitrant bandits/terrorists, in Zakka forest, Safana LGA of Katsina state.

“Consequently, the Area Commander and one other gallantly lost their lives during a cross exchange of gun fire,” he said.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Idrisu Dabban Dauda, on behalf of the officers and men of the Command expressed his deep sympathy to the family of the deceased and pray to almighty Allah to repose their souls in Jannatul Firdausi.”

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu soldiers of the Presidential Guard have repelled an attack on President Muhammadu Buhari’s advance team to Daura, Katsina State.

 He said that the gun battle which occurred near Dutsinma, Katsina State, involved a convoy of cars  carrying security personnel and other officers ahead of the President’s visit to his country home of Daura.

The Police Area Commander that was killed, Aminu Umar was in charge of Dutsinma. 

The Presidential Spokesman condemned the shooting which he described as sad and unwelcome.

He said that two people sustained gunshot injuries when the convoy ran into an ambush laid by the Gunmen.

Shehu added that the combined team of soldiers, the police and operatives of the Department of State Service repelled the attack.

“The Presidency has described as sad and unwelcome, the shooting incident near Dutsinma, Katsina State, at the convoy of cars carrying the Advance Team of security guards, protocol and media officers ahead of the President, Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to Daura for Sallah. 

“The attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions but were repelled by the military, police and DSS personnel accompanying the convoy. 

“Two persons in the convoy are receiving treatment for the minor injuries they suffered. All the other personnel, staff and vehicles made it safely to Daura.” He said
