Eid-il-Fitr: FG Declares Friday,  Monday  Public Holidays

The Federal Government has declared Friday and Monday as public holidays to celebrate this year’s EId-il-Fitr.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Shuiab Belgore, said in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday that the Minister, Rauf Aregbesola, made the declaration on behalf of the federal government.

The Minister congratulated all Muslims for the successful completion of the Ramadan and urged them to “imbibe and practise the virtues of kindness, love, tolerance, peace, self-denial, sacrifice and good neighbourliness, as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).

Aregbesola restated the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari to a peaceful transition of government after the successful conduct of the 2023 elections.

He also assured of the commitment of the government  to the provision of security for all Nigerians and foreigners in the country.

He urged all Nigerians to embrace self reliance, self-denial, sacrifice and deep spiritual consciousness that occasioned the fasting period.

He stressed that the highlights of the Ramadan should be sustained and improved upon with a view to becoming better person and true worshippers
