The Acting National Chairman of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressives Congress, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, has said that the March 26, 2022 date for the party’s National convention stands.

“ I want to remind you that you have to  work hard to ensure that the National convention will go on 26th of March 2022. That day is sacrosanct insha Allah.” Bello said
Bello spoke at the inauguration of sub-committees for the national convention at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday.

Bello’s assurance came amidst serious doubts about the possibility of holding the convention on March 26, as scheduled under the ousted National Chairman, Mai Mala Buni.

Top leaders of the party had expressed deep concern that if the Buni team did not write to give the 21 days notice to INEC before the sudden change of leadership on Monday, it would affect the date for the convention.
Bello who said that the CECPC has commended efforts to ensure a successful convention on Monday added that part of the efforts was the inauguration of the chairmen and secretaries of the committees.

He said, “For those of you that have been monitoring events in the national secretariat since Monday we have started the effort to ensure that there is free and fair convention.
“We have made efforts to see  successful Convention and part of those efforts is to inaugurate chairmen and secretaries of the Committees  in consideration of track records and loyalty to the party.

“We task you that you exhibit these qualities to ensure the success of the convention. I know a lot of our party faithfuls wanted in one way or the other serve in various committees as their support or contributions towards a healthy party.”

He appealed to party members who could not make the committees to be firm in their support for the party as not all members could get accommodated.

“However we must be mindful that we cannot accommodate everyone in the committee. So we  trimmed down  the number to workable size without undermining everyone and I think this decision is the best for our party.” He added
