Buhari Begins Short Vacation, Hands Over To Osinbajo

A statement released by the Presidency and signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adeshina, Friday said while President Buhari is on vacation, the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo will perform the functions of the President.

In compliance with Section 145 (1) of the Nigerian Constitution, President Buhari has dispatched a formal notice of his vacation to the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Although, there was no official explanation on why Mr. Buhari is going on vacation at this time, it may not be unconnected the tiring scheduled just undertook.

Lately, the President had embarked on series of official trips abroad the last being the event on Syria in London where he canvassed for international support in the fight against terror.

It would be recalled that late President Umaru Yar’Adua embarked on a medical in 2008 without following section 145 (1), thereby creating a vacuum in governance when he eventually died.
