A bomb explosion has occurred Thursday in Biu, Borno state, killing at least 10 persons and leaving many others seriously injured.
The deadly explosion reportedly planted by suspected female Boko Haram terrorists went off in a crowded market.
The explosion occurred at about 3:20 pm, when female suicide bomber was being challenged by traders in the market in her attempt to plant the suspected explosive device.
Official death toll is still being awaited, eyewitness said not fewer than 10 bodies were counted, adding that persons in critical condition, are being moved to the hospital.
“Some of us are now at the general hospital in Biu, where most of the injured persons have been rushed to. With what I’m seeing, I doubt if most of the injured persons will survive,” Isa Gura, an eyewitness was quoted as saying.
Biu town is 184 Kilometers from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
