Don’t Get Involved In 2015 Elections -Military Personnel Warned

Nigerian Army personnel have been warned to resist the temptation of being used for illegal political activities during the forthcoming 2015 elections.

The outgoing commander of 3rd Brigade Kano, Major General Iliyasu Abbah, made the charge at today at during the handing over ceremony in Kano.

Major General Abbah, who is on transfer to the Niger Delta region following his recent promotion, reminded the army that political gladiators are already warming up as politics is gathering momentum towards 2015. He urged  military personnel to watch and be careful in all that they do in order not to compromise the integrity of the army.

He said: “2015 is going to be an election period and as you are all aware, you will be deployed to different towns to ensure peace and some of you may be called upon to engage in illegal activities, I urge you not to listen to such people,” Abbah said. Adding that the military personnel must remain neutral during such assignment.

In his remarks, Brigadier General Bright Fiboi Numama, who succeeded Abbah as 3rd Brigade Commander assured that he would continue where the outgoing commander stopped.
