By Dipo Awojobi – The Nigerian youths have been described as a vulnerable set of people that should be properly engaged so that they could become useful to themselves and the society.

A lawmaker in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Jude. Emeka Idimogu, said a lot of youths are unemployed and it is better to get them engaged through talent hunts.

Speaking during the unveiling of the logo of ‘Honourable Has Gone Mathematical,’ co-sponsored by Hon. Jude Idimogu from Oshodi/Isolo Constituency 2 and Hon. Akeem Shokunle of Oshodi/Isolo Constituency 1, at the assembly premises on Friday, Hon. Idimogu added that the programme is a way of giving back to the people of the constituencies.

The event is being organised by The Proposal, Beettomes and Wheels Gong Media, while Mc BeeTee would serve as the Project Ambassador..

Idimogu said further that he and his colleague would continue to do their best despite the tight economic condition in the country.

“The programme would cover talent hunts amongst comedians, orators, dancers, actors, models amongst others in the area. We will ensure that we do our best for the youths and we will meet with the winners on October 1st, 2016,” he said.

Odimogu, who later unveiled the logo with the theme: “Youths Have Vision, They Ought Not To Be Idle,” promised to work hard with his colleague, who was unavoidably absent at the event, to ensure that the youths in the area turn out better in the future.

According to him, the project is being supported by Chi Limited, Startimes, Miss Imo State and Miss Tourism Lagos amongst others.

Speaking earlier, the media Director of the Project, Jadesola Durotoye said that the project is meant to disprove the notion that lawmakers are usually inaccessible, when they get to public offices, and that the youths would be exposed to how they could discover their talents.

She added that it is starting in Oshodi/Isolo Constituency and that other local governments and constituencies in the state would still be part of the project.

“We will partner with corporate bodies and we are on the social networks. We will have street shows and the youths would meet with the lawmakers before October 1, when the winners would meet with them.

“The team is built on entertainers, some of us in the team are actors, comedians and journalists. The programme is different from others because others were not built on grassroots,” she said.

An award of Best Law Government Speaker In Nigeria (BLGS) was later presented to the Speaker of the Lagos Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa by the team and it was received on his behalf by Hon. Jude Idimogu.
