● CAF president says Nigeria must bid to host the World Cup
News Investigators/ Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has been scheduled to watch live the African Cup of Nation (AFCON) final match between Nigeria and Ivory Coast at the Stade Alassane Ouattara in Abidjan on Sunday.

Mr. Tinubu’s presence at the stadium is expected to give significant support to the Super Eagles against Ivory Coast.

Confederation of African Football president, Patrice Motsepe, disclosed this on Friday while speaking at a press conference after meeting with CAF Member Associations’ Presidents ahead of the AFCON final.

Mr. Motsepe replying a journalist who asked him when Africa could host the FIFA World Cup again after South Africa did for the first time in 2010, Tinubu would be in Abidjan on Sunday.

“Nigeria must put in a bid. The Nigerian president (Bola Tinubu) is coming to watch the final on Sunday. I will have a conversation with him about it.” he said.

Meanwhile, Vice President Kashim Shettima saw the Super Eagles beat South Africa 4-2 on penalties in the semi-final of AFCON 2023 on Wednesday after regulation and extra time had ended in a 1-1 draw.
