Tinubu Hails CBN Special Investigator, Jim Obazee, As Emefiele Probe Ends

News Investigators/ President Bola Tinubu has expressed gratitude to the former Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC), Jim Obazee, for conclusively discharging his duty as special investigator of the activities of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Mr. Obazee was appointed as the Special Investigator of CBN and other related entities on July 28, 2023 to examine the operations of the apex bank under the leadership of its former governor, Godwin Emefiele.

A statement by Presidential Spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale on Friday said Mr. Tinubu commended Mr. Obazee “for the dedication and professionalism he exercised in handling the complexities of this critical national assignment.

“Subsequent to the conclusion of the assignment and the submission of a final comprehensive report, and with the winding up of all apparatuses used during the scope of the task which terminated on March 31, 2024, the investigation is formally closed, with all appropriate law enforcement and regulatory agencies already conducting follow-up action,” Mr. Ngelale said.

“The President thanked Mr. Obazee for answering the call of duty while wishing him well in his future endeavor,” he added.
