About 40 people were killed and several others injured by multiple bomb explosions that occurred at different locations of Dadin-Kowa and Dukku motor parks in Gombe state capital Wednesday evening.

The first explosion occurred at a mosque where worshippers have gathered for evening prayers, even as others occurred at three different locations at interval.

Secretary of the Red Cross Society in the state, Abubakar Yakubu, told journalists that bodies were deposited at the Federal Teaching Hospital (FHT) Gombe and Specialist Hospital mortuary.

Yakubu, said 30 persons dead persons were found adding that those who sustained injuries were receiving treatment at the Teaching Hospital and Specialist hospital.

But an eyewitness said no less than 40 persons lost their lives in the blast. “From what we have seen, more than 40 corpses have been picked in all,” eyewitness said.

Police Public Relation Officer in Gombe, Fwaje Atajiri, confirmed the incident, saying the explosion at Dadin-Kowa park occurred around 7:50 p.m. He would however not confirm the casualty figures.

Just last week, explosion occurred in Gombe killing several persons.

No one has claimed responsibility for the explosions, but the Boko Haram sect have been responsible for attacks in the northeast states of Yobe, Borno and Adamawa in which over 30,000 persons have died.
