…as Senate Plans to Probe NBC over alleged mismanagement of N1.2 billion

By Nuel Suji – The Cold War between the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Director-General of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Kawu Modibo took another twist as the Senate concluded plans to probe allegation of mismanagement of N1.2billion in the Commission.

President of the Senate

The Senate decision to prove the Commission was sequel to a point of order raised by Senator Dino Melaye.

Melaye, a diehard supporter of the Senate President accused the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) of reckless spending.

According to Melaye, the Commission spent N227million on Foreign trips despite bans by President Muhammadu Buhari against overseas trips.

He said the Commission spent all monies generated, urging the Senate to look into its spending thoroughly

The Senate President, however directed Senator Melaye to come with proper motion on next legislative day.

Our correspondent gathered that Saraki and Modibo are arch enemy and the probe may be the platform for Senate President to deal with his considered adversary.

Buhari had appointed Modibo as the Director General of NBC against the wish of the Senate President who came from same state with the former Journalist.
