By Dipo Awojobi – A Lagos Federal Lawmaker, Jide Jimoh has give President Muhammadu Buhari a pass mark in his fight against corruption, even as he urged Nigerians to have strong faith in God, saying God would bring the nation out of her current economic crisis in this new year.

Rep. Jimoh, who is representing Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, spoke in an interview in Lagos while reacting to the achievements of the National Assembly in 2016.

According to him, the power tussle  in the National Assembly at both the Senate President and the Speaker emerged and this really took their time, adding that “the delay in the presentation of the 2016 budget affected the activities last year, but I would say that this government has done well in the area of security and fighting corruption.

“We should thank God that we have conquered Boko Haram and with this, people in the Northern part of the country are jubilating, but we must not rest on our oars.

“The problems we had in the past year made Nigerians to have diverse opinions about the present government. But I know that the present government has proven to Nigerians that it is capable of solving the present challenges confronting the nation”, he said.

The lawmaker stressed that the only area this government is presently lagging behind is economy, adding that everybody, including the politicians, were affected.

“We have to increase our faith ‎in God because He has good plans for us all this year.”

Reacting to the anti-corruption crusade introduced by President Buhari, the lawmaker maintained that fighting corruption is a collective responsibility and that this goes with discipline.

He said that the money recovered from the looters must be appropriated before it could be spent by the executive which he said has been included in the budget.
