Jonathan Cancels Immigration Interview, Offers Automatic Slots To Victims

Amid criticisms of poor handling, President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered the immediate cancellation of the last Saturday recruitment exercise by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) in which 19 persons dead and several others injured.

The NIS interview incident had attracted wide condemnations bothering on allegations of extortion and shady deals.

President Jonathan at the commencement of today’s Federal Executive Council meeting directed the cancellation of the exercise.

He further directed that all those who lost their loved ones would have automatic slot for three applicants, of which one of the three must be a woman.

The Nigerian Senate had also ordered a probe into the incident.
