Youths Hail Dickson As UAT Produces Maiden Graduates In Bayelsa

The Bayelsa West Youth Leadership Forum has commended former Governor of the state Senator Seriake Dickson for choosing their area to site the University of Africa, Toru-Orua (UAT) when he held sway as the Governor of Bayelsa State.

The youths said the vision of Dickson, who represents the Bayelsa West at the National Assembly, has yielded the expected dividends as the university recently graduated its maiden students.

The BWYLF in a statemeny signed by its Coordinator, Akene Moses; Secretary, Mary Clement and Spokesman, Doupere Fada, said the former governor brought education to the doorsteps of his people at the rural area.

The group said: “Any society that wants to develop must give priority to education. Such a priority is necessary to ensure that people who take over leadership positions both in the public and private sectors are equipped with knowledge.

“Today the vision of former Governor Seriake Dikckson, (now Senator) to establish a university somewhere at Bayelsa West has yielded the positive results in preparing the younger generation for leadership positions in the nearest future.

“This institution, the University of Africa Toru-Orua (UAT) has produced its maiden graduates with good grades and in flying colours.

“We want to convey our heartfelt appreciation to Senator Henry Seriake Dickson for bringing one of the world-class universities to the doorsteps of his people at the rural area”.

The group insisted that the establishment of the UAT remained one of the giant legacy projects executed by Dickson and promised to always remain supportive and loyal to the Senator.

The youths further congratulated the pioneer graduates of UAT and advised them to always be of good conduct as ambassadors of the university.
