News Investigators/ Ahead of the November 2024 Governorship election in Ondo State, a political group known as Movement for Truth, has dissociated itself from former governorship aspirant, Olusola Oke’s his decision to back the governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa in the forth coming election.
The group who are erstwhile associate of Mr. Oke vowed to chart a new path, saying it would have nothing to do with Mr. Aiyedatiwa, the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate in the election.
Mr. Oke, at APC stakeholders meeting on Thursday announced the collapse of his political structure in order to work for the governor’s victory.
But in a swift reaction, the group led by Benson Enikuomehin, Kayode Mogbojuri and Steve Omogbemi which constitutes a strong bloc within the APC in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State where Mr. Aiyedatiwa hails from rejected the decision.
In a statement e-signed by the trio and made available to newsmen on Friday, the group said Mr. Oke’s latest support for the governor as a betrayal of trust and was without their blessing.
“The decision of Chief Olusola Oke, SAN to collapse his political structure for his brother, Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa does not enjoy the endorsement of our team ” MOVEMENT FOR TRUTH”.
“Chief Olusola Oke SAN as a Nigerian citizen has his unfettered right to support whoever he desires in the forthcoming Ondo State Governorship election in November,” it said.
Adding: “Our organization worked for Chief Olusola Oke SAN, but will not allow itself to be led by the nose to support the candidature of Governor Ayedatiwa.
“Our team therefore dissociates itself from the decision taken by Chief Olusola Oke, SAN. While we respect his view, we also expect him to respect our position on the matter.
“We maintain that no primary election was held on April 20, 2024 by APC in Ondo State. We made it known to the whole world that it is only righteousness that can exalt a nation, _a fortiori_any organization or political party. We as a group cannot be speaking from the two sides of our mouths.
“Flowing from the above, we remain committed to what is just, fair, equitable and of sound mind in our pursuit of who should be the Governor of Ondo State.
“Now that Chief Olusola Oke SAN is out of the way, we shall chart a new course, but DEFINITELY NOT THE UNRIGHTEOUS MAMMON.
“We shall address a Press Conference where our positions will be made categorical and unequivocal,” it added.
