Deputy Senate President,  Senator Ike Ekweremadu has said that nobody can distract him from his agenda of improving the lives of his constituents and Nigerians saying his aim in politics was to take his people to a higher level.
Senator Ekweremadu and Enugu state governor, Sullivan Chime have been locked up in battle over the control of the soul of Enugu in 2015. Chime recently in apparent move to weaken the ambition of the deputy senate president declared that the governorship slot for 2015 has been zoned to Enugu North senatorial zone, whereas Ekweremadu hails from Enugu Central while the party in the state also claimed that it has zoned out the Enugu senatorial seat to Udi apparently to pave way for the governor to pick the ticket.
Ekweremadu while receiving different groups that paid him Christmas visit in his Mpu country home in Aninri, to his supporters that he remained focused and committed to his main objective for joining politics and as such would not be distracted.
He said his major concern for being in politics was to uplift the living standard of the people, noting that no amount of pressure would make him to derail from that path.
He specifically assured the Ugbo community and the entire people of Enugu West Senatorial district who he represents that he will continue to sustain the good relationship that exists between them, through the attraction of more developmental projects in 2014.
He urged the people of the senatorial zone to monitor and secure all on-going projects in their areas as that would encourage the attraction of more projects to their areas.
Ekweremadu who also spoke on security issues said though it was the responsibility of the government to protect the lives and properties of its citizens, the people should as well come together and help fight crime by being involved in the various vigilantes groups in their communities.
“Though some people will argue that it is the duty of government to protect lives and property, the fact remains that security should be the concern of everyone. You must help to secure your environment;  secure the projects that have been cited in your areas and ensure that we don’t hear funny stories of how projects have been vandalised and all that, ” he said.
The senator who also talked about on-going projects in Enugu West Seantorial district, called on SETRACO, the company handling most of the road projects in the area to ensure they meet the deadline and maintain standards.
Some of the roads include the Orji-Mmaku-Agwu-Ndiabor-Akaaze road, the Odume-Nnewe road among others.
In his response, the Public Relations officer of SETRACO, Paul Nsiembassey assured the people that the on-going projects would be completed as scheduled.
Leader of Ugbo community, Chief Clement Ogbonnia expressed appreciation to Ekweremadu for the numerous projects he attracted to Ugbo community including electricity, water, roads and other infrastructures which have greatly transformed the area; adding that the people will forever remain grateful to him.

He also used the opportunity to dissociate the Ugbo community from a said internet write up written by one of their sons, Sylvester Ogbonnia from his United States base which they roundly condemned, and urged the Senator to disregard such distractions and continue with his good works. Ends
