Woman Delivers Baby At Launch Of Nigeria For Women Programme In Katsina

News Investigators/ A woman delivered a baby girl on Sunday at the venue of the inauguration of the Community Investment Fund under the Nigeria for Women Programme in Katsina.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Aisha Aminu-Malumfashi, disclosed this while delivering her welcome address at the ceremony attended by the Vice-President Kashim Shettima.

Mrs Aminu-Malumfashi described the birth as a blessing to the programme and the women of Katsina State.

“On a lighter note, we had a baby born today at the stadium. One of the women gave birth to a bouncing baby girl this morning.

“I think that is a huge blessing to this ceremony today,” she said.

The commissioner expressed delight at the Vice-President’s presence in Katsina for the second time within a year, describing the visit as a demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to women’s empowerment.

She recalled that the Vice-President had visited the state in October 2025 to support enterprise development and small and medium-scale businesses, which, she said, were largely dominated by women.

According to her, the Community Investment Fund is being launched under the World Bank-supported Nigeria for Women Programme in collaboration with the Katsina State Government.

She said the programme was specifically designed to provide women with financial support and empower them to achieve greater economic independence.

Aminu-Malumfashi said beneficiaries had been trained in financial literacy, savings and financial discipline, enabling them to better manage their businesses and support their families.

She said the intervention had contributed to more stable incomes to families and communities, while also improving children’s access to education.

The commissioner added that the programme was also helping to address malnutrition, noting that both girls and boys were increasingly benefiting from improved household economic conditions.

She said the rising economic activities among women under the programme were contributing to greater economic prosperity across communities in the state.

“On behalf of the Katsina State Ministry for Women Affairs, the project team under the Nigeria for Women Project in Katsina State and the entire supporting coordinating unit, I warmly welcome you all,” the commissioner said.
