The Defence Headquarters has dispatched a team of senior officers to the troubled state of Borno, northeast Nigeria, to carry out a progress assessment of the ongoing counter terrorism campaign in the area.

Defence Headquarters said the move is in furtherance of its oversight responsibility over the various military deployments and Joint Task Forces across the country.

“The team visited the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in Borno State to assess the progress of the ongoing counter terrorism campaign in the area.”

While addressing troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force at Gangaruwa, the team leader, Commodore Joseph Ogbulezie commended them for their patriotism, stressing that their sacrifice will not go in vain.

He assured the troops that the Defence Headquarters and indeed the entire Nigeria appreciate their sacrifice in the ongoing fight against terror.

He stated that the Defence Headquarters is committed to enhancing their logistics, especially in terms of uniform, accoutrement as well as timely payment of their operational allowances.
