UROMI BANK ROBBERY: VIGILANTE, POLICE RECOVER N34.5 MILLION, FOUR CARS, OTHERS FROM ROBBERS


…ONE SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

The members of a Vigilance Group at Ubiaja and the men of the Edo State Command of the Nigerian Police have recovered N34,510,000 from the daredevil armed robbers who attacked four banks and killed seven people at Uromi, on Thursday.

The combined team of vigilante and the police also recovered four vehicles and two motorcycles that were used perpetrate the dastardly act.

A police situation report on the update of the crime stated that the operatives Ubiaja received information that some vehicles suspected to have been used in the robbery were seen at a bush at Orueen Quarters, Ubiaja, by N5:40 pm.

It was stated that the DPO immediately mobilized three patrol vehicles in the company of Chief John Odijie, the Oniha of Ibiaja and the vigilantes to the site to recover the vehicles.

The items recovered by the joint team include: One red colour Camry salon car with registration number MK 23 KJA LAGOS , an ash colour Camry Car, (REG NO.KWL 19 DU ABUJA), a Dark Ash colour corolla car with Reg. No. UBJ 734 SZ, One Lexus 330 car with Reg. No. AAA 973 FL, One Red Q. Link M/CYCLE With Reg. No. EZA 105 QN, One Red Day Long M/Cycle With Reg. No. ENU 204 QL,.

Others include two small bags containing women Items, one Union Bank ATM card and Cash Sum Thirty four million, five hundred and ten thausan Naira only ( #34,510,000.00).

Investigation revealed that the recovered items were handed over to the ACP in charge of the Uromi Area Command for necessary action.

Spokesman of the Edo State Police Command, Kotongs Bello confirmed the recovered items in a statement on Friday.

He said that “the Commissioner of Police Edo State Police Command, Philip Aliyu Ogbadu while symphatizing with the familes of those who lost their lives in the unfurtunate incident Promised not to relent until all those behind the attack are bought to face the full wrath of the law.”

It was gathered that some youths from Ubiaja blocked the Road by the rail line, which forced the robbers to abandon the stolen cars and the money.
