•••MINOR JUMPS FROM SECOND FLOOR TO ESCAPE FROM RAPIST
Operatives of the Anambra State police command have arrested a Pastor of a Pentocostal Church for allegedly defiling a twelve year old girl.
Coincidentally, Pastor, Mr Onyekwelu who is also a Lecturer at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka was said to have defiled the minor who was living with him.
The incident occured in Ifite community in Awka the state capital
The little girl who hails from Ufuma in Orumba North Local government areas of Anambra state, in an interview said that when she could not bear the pains of rape by the cleric which took place at about 9:30pm on Wednesday.
Narrating her ordeal, she said that she was forced to jump off two storey building and broke her leg in the process.
The girl who is presently receiving treatment at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching hospital (COOTH) in Awka, said “On Saturday my mother sent me to one woman who later took me to the house of Rev Onyekwelu for me to be cooking and cleaning the house for him since his family is not around.”
“On that same Saturday I came to his house after doing all the house chores, I went to bed, he came to me and started forcing his penis inside my body and I started crying because it was paining me.
“I told him to leave me that my mother told me not to do such a thing but he continued forcing me and when I cried loud he started beating me.”
“On Sunday, he went to church alone and when he came back that night he started inserting his fingers inside my body, He also forced me to suck his penis and I refused and he started beating me again.
“The thing continued untill yeasterday being Wednesday when he was answering a phone call in the night, I told him I want to go and ease myself, he allowed me to go and by that time he had locked up the doors. So, I opened the toilet window and jumped out from there and I broke my left leg.”
The mother of the girl, Mrs Chinwe Okafor confirmed that she gave her child to a friend who told her that she has a relation that needs a girl of that age as house help.
She said that her friend told her that the man’s family are in Abuja and she would want her daughter to stay with the suspect as a house help.
Mrs Okafor who lamented how her daughter ran to the kitchen to sleep one of the nights in order to run away from what she called torture, noted that the man still went to the kitchen and brought her out and continued with the act.
“When she jumped from the upstairs, someone came out from the building and saw her, then, he started shouting and rushed her to the nearest hospital along the street called Climax Ifite Awka.
“I am pleading to the police to give us justice in this matter. If my daughter had hit her head on the floor nobody would have known what happened.
The man would have even said that my daughter was possessed by evil spirit” she added
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state command DSP Ikenga Tochukwi who confirmed the arrest of the man said investigation into the matter had comenced.
He assured that the suspect would be charged to court at the end of investigations.
