TROOPS SACKS IPOB STRONGHOLD IN IMO

The troops of the Nigerian Army have sacked a strong hold of the Indigenous People of Biafra in Orlu, Imo State.

The troops also captured a cache of arms and ammunition in the Orlu area which is the operation headquarters of the Eastern Security Network, the militant wing of the Indigenous People of People of Biafra.

The Nigerian Army stated on Thursday in its official Twitter handle that the firearms and ammunition were recovered after a gun battle at Amaifeke-Akkatta Road in Orlu LGA

It was stated that the troops removed ambushes staged by the separatist group and overpowered the ESN operatives who abandoned a vehicle where the weapons were hidden.

“After a gun battle at Amaifeke-Akkatta Road in Orlu LGA of Imo state, fire arms and ammunition were recovered during troops’ operations to clear separatists’ hideouts in the general area

“Troops uncovered the weapons concealed in a black Toyota Camry, after they successfully surmounted ambushes staged by members of the outlawed dissident group, who, having been overpowered by the gallant troops, abandoned their vehicle & weapons in the heat of the combat & fled…

“The Nigerian Army urges all to continue to provide timely and credible information in support of ongoing operations to restore peace and security in the South East and other troubled parts of the country.” The tweets read.
