Troops Foil Terror Attacks, Apprehend 14 Collaborators In Borno

News Investigators/ Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have foiled terrorist attacks and apprehended suspected collaborators in separate operations across Borno.

Operational report made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said that troops of 25 Brigade successfully thwarted an attempted attack by ISWAP/JAS fighters on Damboa on Saturday.

The military said that the terrorists were detected advancing from the Timbuktu Triangle axis and were engaged with artillery and mortar fire, forcing them to retreat in disarray.

According to the report, follow-up exploitation supported by air surveillance recorded no further contact.

In another operation, the military said troops of 115 Battalion repelled another attack on their position at Mussa in Askira Uba Local Government Area.

It added that the insurgents withdrew after a fierce exchange of fire, while troops maintained dominance of the area.

“Meanwhile, a joint operation involving Civilian Joint Task Force operatives led to the arrest of 14 suspected terrorist logistics suppliers in Gamboru Market and Customs Area of Maiduguri.

“Items recovered from the suspects include mobile phones and cash, while investigations are ongoing.

“Similarly, troops of 25 Brigade and 19 Battalion arrested a suspected kidnapper at Azir in Damboa Local Government Area,” she said.

Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining offensive operations to deny terrorists freedom of action in the North-East.
