By Nuel Suji – The Governorship election tribunal in Gombe State has upheld the election of Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo, describing the petition against the governor as a waste of time of the tribunal.

Governor Dankwambo had emerged winner of the April 2015 governorship election having been reelected on the platform of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The All Progressive Congress (APC) opposition in the state had petitioned seeking to overturn the victory.
But, the tribunal on Wednesday dismissed a petition filed by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the April 11 election, Inuwa Yahya.
The tribunal said the petitioner simply “wasted the time of the tribunal”.
The tribunal issued awarded a fine of N3, 500 against the petitioner, accusing him of deliberately attempting to defame the tribunal during the trial.
