TRAIN ATTACK: UNIPORT ALUMNI URGES FG TO IMPROVE SECURITY, LAMENTS Dr CHINELO’S KILLING

The Federal Government has been tasked to improve and strengthen the security architecture of the country to end the incessant killing of citizens by terrorists.

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) Alumni Association made the call while reacting to the grusome murder of Dr Chinelo Megafu, who died in the Kaduna-Abuja train attack by terrorists.

According to the group, the death of Megafu and others in the train utterly revealed the poor security arrangement of the country.

In a statement by the President of the UNIPORT Alumni Association, Williams Ule, on Friday, the group prayed for the repose of Megafu and sympathiesed with her family.

Dr Megafu, was former student of the University of Port Harcourt, where she graduated as a trained Dental Surgeon.

She died from the gun shot injuries she sustained during the attack by the terrorists on the train.

Ule decribed the terrorists attack as very henious, adding the attack was very unfortunate and unwarranted.

He said the death was avoidable and regrettable because someone ignored his responsibility.

According to him, the attack was a blow to such multi-talented energetic young Nigerian who is in her prime and has a lot to contribute towards the development of the country.

“The University of Port Harcourt Alumni, UniPort, Association expresses grief and commiserates with the family of late Dr Megafu Nwando Chinelo, who boarded the Kaduna-Abuja bound train that was attacked by terrorist and killed her alongside other passengers in the process.

‘‘As an association, we identify and grieve with the entire family and families of other Nigerians killed during this gruesome attack. We are, however, consoled by the fact that the young lady died while pursuing and adding value to humanity.

‘‘It is our solemn and collective prayer that the almighty God grant her eternal peace and give the entire family the grace and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.” He stated.

Ule asked the Federal and Kaduna State Government to make sure that the killers of Megafu and other victims of the train attack faced judgement.

He further urged the Federal Government to provide all necessary security equipment needed to ensure that the Nigerian rail network, roads, water ways and airports are properly secured for nationaI peace and development.
