Tinubu Delivered 221km Roads In FCT Satellite Towns In 3 Years – Wike

News Investigators/ The President Bola Tinubu’s administration has completed 221-kilometre roads out of the 317 awarded in the satellite towns of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) since assuming duty in May 2023.

FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike disclosed this in Abuja on Friday, during the inauguration of the reconstructed 4.2-kilometre dual carriageway Arab/Gbazango Road, in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council of the FCT.

The minister added that 96-kilometre roads were still ongoing across the satellite towns, assuring residents that the Apo to Karshi Road and Nyanya to Kurudu Road would be completed by the end of the year.

He said that the 317-kilometre roads were executed under the Satellite Towns Development Department of the FCT Administration.

Mr Wike also said that a total of 53 projects, under the purview of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) were officially inaugurated in the city centre by the Tinubu administration within the same period.

“The 53 projects excluded numerous interventions that were not inaugurated officially.

“This has never happened in the history of the administration of this country, where a President inaugurated 31 projects in 28 days.

“If there’s anybody who has a contrary view, let them come out and challenge us within the next 24 hours, that all what we are saying is not correct, and I will resign as FCT minister.

“This is what we call, Operation Show Your Report Card.

“The reports are evident in our interventions in the satellite towns and the city centre,” he said.

The minister said that the Arab/Gbazango Road was in a terrible state and had stalled economic activities in the area for years.

He added that Tinubu’s intervention had put smiles on the faces of people in the area, describing it as “a true test of governance”.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that, following a request by residents of the communities on the road corridor, Wike directed the acting Executive Secretary of the FCDA, Mr Richard Dauda to provide portable water to the area.

The minister also announced that, after 28 days of inaugurating 31 projects across the FCT, they were taking a break, to come back  before the end of the year.

Inaugurating the reconstructed road, President Bola Tinubu noted that residents of Kubwa satellite town and surrounding communities had faced immense commuting hardships for quite some time.

Tinubu, who was represented by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, added that dangerous potholes, and severe flooding persistently affected the economic potential of the vibrant satellite town.

“Commuters were also left stranded, and local businesses suffered.

“However, through the focused drive of the FCT Administration, under the leadership of Wike, we have turned this path of frustration into a corridor of immense opportunity.

“Minister Wike, you have once again demonstrated that when the government works with vision and integrity, the results are clear and impactful, and I thank you,” he said.

The president said the road is crucial, linking residents of the area safely to the Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX) and nearby areas.

He added that with the completed road, businesses would experience higher patronage, farmers could move goods freely, and emergency services could respond rapidly to save lives.

On her part. FCT Minister of State. Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, expressed appreciation to Tinubu, for his visionary leadership and unwavering support for the Renewed Hope Agenda,

Mahmoud congratulated the people of Kubwa and the entire FCT and expressed confidence that the projects would remain enduring symbols of purposeful leadership, and dividends of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Earlier, the STDD Coordinator, Mr Zulkiflu Abdulkadir, said that the 4.2-kilometre dual-carriageway was awarded in November 2025 to serve as a vital artery within the Kubwa satellite town layout.

Abdulkadir explained that the road spans from ONEX and stretches down to the bustling Liberty Junction in the Gbazango area.
