Tinubu Appoints Adedayo Laniyi As D-G Maryam Babangida Centre, Constitutes Governing Council

News Investigators/ President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Adedayo Laniyi as the Director-General of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development (MBNCWD) for an initial term of four years.

This is contained in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume and issued by the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Dr Ibrahim Kana.

According to Mr Akume, the appointment, which takes effect from April 18,  is in accordance with the provisions of Section 7 (1) and (3) of the National Centre for Women Development (Amendment) Act, 2023.

He said Tinubu has also approved the constitution of the members of the Governing Council of the Centre.

The governing council chaired by Joan Idonije has Ms. Lois Auta, Jamila Sarki, Aisha Baiyee, Jumoke Okoya-Thomas, and Anne Agom-Eze as members.

“While congratulating the director-general and members of the Governing Council on their appointments, Tinubu extended his best wishes to them. ”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Laniyi, was among the four who contested primaries to represent the Federal Capital Territory in 2022 under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress, but lost as first runner up to Angulu Zakari—former House of Representatives member for Abaji/Gwagwalada/Kwali/Kuje.

In 2023, she was appointed Mandate Secretary by President Tinubu.

Ms Laniyi is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Management Consultants and Certified Management Consultant.
