TENSION ROCKS IMO, ANAMBRA OVER THREAT OF GUNMEN GUNMEN ATTACK

There are strong indications that Imo and Anambra States are under heavy security threats by gunmen on Thursday evening.

The Aguata Local Government Area was this afternoon set ablaze by unkown gunmen and the attack has reached Imo State.

The border towns between Anambra-Imo axis are under tension as motorists are being warned to avoid the towns.

The Network gathered that the residents of the communities around the area are fleeing from being caught in a possible crossfire between the security operatives deployed in the area and the gunmen.

Investigation revealed that many families are reaching out to their members to avoid Banana junction in Orlu Local Government Area, the home town of the former Governor of Imo State, Chief Achike Udenwa.

An indigene of the area who spoke on the condition of anonymity said that the Banana Junction has become notorious for gristly acts of murder by those on the killing spree in the South East.

The source said that the place called Banana junction which was reputed as the Centre of commercial activities where commuters buy their fruits is now dead zone to security operatives and government officials by the merchants of death.

According to the source, commuters are being advised to avoid areas considered dangerous such as Atta, Oru, and Orsu axis of the Senatorial zone.

The source said that motorists frantically trying to escape from the area have caused a gridlock in the area.

Our correspondent could not get the Spokesman of the Imo State Police Command, Michael Abatham, as the calls placed to him mobile telephone line did not connect.
