… SCHOOLS SHUT, WORKERS REMAIN INDOOR AMIDST TENSION 
There is subdued tension in Owerri, the Imo State capital and its environs as battle ready security operatives in a long convoy of white Hilux vans  parade the street of Owerri.

The Network gathered that the presence of the heavily armed, stern looking security operatives scared many of the residents who decided to stay indoor in fear of being caught in a cross fire between soldiers and gun wielding separatists.

Concerned administrators of schools  also refused to resume academic activities on Monday because of the fear that the students and pupils might be caught up in the possible clash .

“Good evening dear parents.  We will be observing sit at home tomorrow because of the  crisis at umuguma in order to be on the part of caution and the safety of our angels and families and every other stake holder. We shall keep you posted . Mgt” A school had written to notify guardians that the school will not open for academic activities on Monday.

The security agencies’ show of force followed a week of bloody clashes between operatives of the Eastern Security Network of the proscribed Indepedent State of Biafra and security agencies.

Some armed gunmen in commando fashion had invaded the Umuguma Police Division in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, killing two civilians on  the spot.

The gunmen armed with guns and explosives immediately opened fire at the building, housing the station in the early hours of Saturday and waited outside for escaping officers to run out before opening fire on them.

On Sunday, the operatives of the Imo State Police Command, Owerri, killed four members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and Eastern Security Network, ESN.

The men were killed while  attempting to burn down the Police Division  in Omuma, Oru East Local Goverment Area of the State.
