No fewer than 50 persons were on Wednesday reportedly killed in attacks by suspected armed herdsmen on Gbeji communities of Ukum Local Government Area of Benue state.
The attack also left six Police officers dead with several others injured and many others currently missing.
Our correspondent gathered that the herdsmen stormed the communities at about 11am of today.
According to a source from the area who identified himself as Jack Ter, it was a bad day for Gbeji communities in Ukum as armed Fulani herdsmen killed countless people.
He said the invaders killed 50 people including 6 police officers as they shot many on sight.
“They came with sophisticated wepons through Wukari LGA of Taraba state which shares the same border with our communities.
“The attack was totally unprovoked. There was no conflict between them and the attacked community. They just want to chase us away from our ancestral homes and take over, so that they can have free access to graze on our farms”, Ter said.
