Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has condemned in strong terms, the abduction of the member representing Aguata Constituency ‘2’ at the State Assembly, Hon. Okechukwu Okoye.
The governor also condemned the abduction of Hon. Okoye’s Campaign Director, Mr. Cyril Chiegboka.
Soludo called for the immediate release of the lawmaker and his campaign director who were abducted in May 15.
Soludo also condemned the rising spate of insecurity across the state which has resulted in the death of innocent citizens.
He lamented that the insecurity is worsening at a period when his government is already reaching out to critical stakeholders for the restoration of peace and security to the State.
He restated that the current spike in the cases of kidnapping and killing of innocent citizens undermines the sanctity of human lives and no one or group has the right to take human life with such impunity.
Soludo, therefore, sympathised with families of those who have directly or indirectly lost their loved ones and re-assures that the government is doing everything in collaboration with the security agencies to restore peace and security to the state in accordance with the law.
