Senator Dickson Urges Security Agencies to Ensure Bayelsa Polls are not disrupted by Misguided Elements

The Senator representing Bayelsa West, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has urged security agencies to ensure that the governorship election in Bayelsa is not disrupted by misguided elements.

The former Governor who voted in company of his wife, Dr.Rachael, at his Toru Orua Polling unit of Sagbama ward 2, in the Saturday gubernatorial poll, said that preliminary reports indicated that that voters turnout was impressive.

However, the Senator urged security agencies to ensure that the election is not disrupted by misguided elements.

He noted that while the voting was peaceful in his community, there were incidents of brigandage in a community in Ward 6.

He says, “As far as we can see the people are queing up and the turnout is very impressive and everywhere is peaceful as far as this community is concerned.

“I am aware that there are reports of some brigandage in a community in ward 6 and I have been told that it has been brought to the notice of the security agencies and the electoral body. I believe that proper actions should be taken to serve as a deterrent.

“In this local government and senatorial district, the reports available indicates that is going according to plan and it’s peaceful, I am told that the turnout is quite impressive especially in Sagbama local government and the constituency; the turnout is impressive.

“We hope that in the remaining hours of this exercise, it will continue this way. Security agencies should double their efforts to stop misguided elements from disrupting the process or causing harm to lawful innocent voters.”

“So far, I think it is a marked improvement from the last gubernatorial election we witnessed.” He said
