Senator Abatemi-Usman, Obtains Form For Re-election With 2 Of His Aides

The Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Senator Nurudeen Abatemi-Usman has obtained the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nomination form to seek for a second term in the Upper Legislative Chamber of the National Assembly.

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Michael Jegede, in Abuja, Sen. Nurudeen Abatemi-Usmanthe Senator after obtaining the nomination form, said the decision to seek the mandate of his people for a return to the Senate in 2015, was borne out of his desire to continue to serve them in the best possible ways, for further transformation of the central senatorial district of Kogi State.

While thanking the people for the support given him since his emergence as their Senator in 2011, Abatemi-Usman, pointed out that a second mandate from them will strengthen him as a ranking Senator to do more towards attracting developmental projects to the district from the federal government.

The Senator, who is the Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, said he was prepared to face other aspirants seeking for the PDP senatorial ticket for Kogi Central. He urged the party to ensure transparency and fairness in the conduct of the primaries by creating a level playing field for all contestants.

In a related development, Senator Abatemi-Usman’s aides – Hon. Michael Ogbodo, Senior Legislative Aide, seeking to represent Ogori/Magongo Constituency in Kogi State House of Assembly and Hon. Olayinka Oladimeji Segelu, Personal Assistant, aspiring to represent the Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency of Oyo State in the House of
Representatives have also purchased their PDP nomination forms.

In separate remarks, the duo of Ogbodo and Segelu, who have resigned their appointments with the Senator to enable them pursue their ambitions, said they decided to seek for the elective positions from the inspiration they got from their boss.

According to them, the Kogi Central Senator has demonstrated exceptional leadership quality and courage which saw him blending easily with his colleagues in the Red Chamber despite being the youngest Senator. They maintained that his performance in the Senate has been quite remarkable.

While imploring youths not to allow themselves to be used b self-serving politicians in the forthcoming election, they opined that the time has come for youths in the country to take the bold step of getting involved in active politics that will see them joining in the process of building a stronger nation for the benefit of the Nigerian
people.
