Former governor of Kebbi state and senator representing Kebbi on the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC), Sen. Adamu Aliero has dismissed claims that the north west caucus in the senate has endorsed Sen, Bukola Saraki for the senate president’s seat.
He said nothing could be farther from the truth, adding that the report “is riddled with innuendos, half truths and political incantations of no value.”
Aliero in a statement issued in Abuja, Tuesday said contrary to the claims, Sen. Ahmed Lawan group remains in strong contention, alleging that the report that claimed otherwise was sponsored by the Saraki group.
“I have read with surprising disgust the story published in one of the national dailies in which infantile claims were made about the purported blanket support secured by Senator Saraki from the North West for his Senate Presidency ambition. Nothing could  be farther from the truth.
“I want to state categorically that the North West of which I am a member has not given such a blanket support to Senator Saraki.
“The story published in the paper titled, “Senate Presidency: Saraki Consolidates as Lawan’s Group Hits the Rock”, is riddled with innuendos, half truths and political incantations of no value.
“The Senator Lawan group remains in strong contention and will not  descend to the level of disparaging anyone through sponsored stories that are fabrications and aimed at misleading the unsuspecting public,” he stated.
