The Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Mr Dauda Lawal as governor of Zamfara.
The apex court in a landmark ruling, set aside, the judgement of the Appeal Court which had declared the governorship election inconclusive and ordered a re-run in three local government areas of the state.
While delivering the lead judgement of the Supreme Court, Emmanuel Agim described the ruling of the lower Court of Appeal as perversion of justice.
According to the justice Agim, the lower court’s decision lacked evidential foundation.
“The decision of the Court of Appeal has no evidential foundation.
“The judgement of the Court of Appeal delivered in November is set aside. The order setting aside the appellant’s election is set aside. And the election of the Appellant is upheld.” Mr Agim ruled.
