Saraki, Ekweremadu Alleged Forgery: Court Adjourned Hearing Till Sept. 28

By Sadiq Umar – A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory has adjourned hearing the case of forgery leveled against the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, and two others.

The Court adjourned hearing in the matter to September 28 following the annual vacation embarked on by the trial judge, Justice Haliru Yusuf.

Saraki and Ekweremadu are standing trial alongside a former Clerk of the National Assembly, Salisu Maikasuwa and deputy, Benedict Efeturi, on allegations of illegally altering the Senate’s Standing Rules shortly before the election of current presiding officers for Upper Chamber in June 2015.

The court registrar, Victor Ifeachor, told the court that the case had been adjourned till September 28 following the ongoing vacation of Federal Capital Territory High Court which began on Monday, July 11.

All four accused persons were present at the court for the hearing but left almost immediately.
