Soldiers of the Presidential Guard have an attack on President Muhammadu Buhari’s advance team to Daura, Katsina State.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu said that gun battle which occurred near Dutsinma, Katsina State, involved a convoy of cars
Carrying security personnel and other officers ahead of the President’s visit to his country home of Daura.
The Presidential Spokes condemned the shooting which he described as sad and unwelcome,
He said that two people sustained gunshot injuries when the convoy ran into an ambush laid by the Gunmen.
Shehu added that the combined team of soldiers, the police and operatives of the Department of State Service repelled the attack.
“The Presidency has described as sad and unwelcome, the shooting incident near Dutsinma, Katsina State, at the convoy of cars carrying the Advance Team of security guards, protocol and media officers ahead of the President, Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to Daura for Sallah.
“The attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions but were repelled by the military, police and DSS personnel accompanying the convoy.
“Two persons in the convoy are receiving treatment for the minor injuries they suffered. All the other personnel, staff and vehicles made it safely to Daura.” He said
